"B" week

This week didn't go quite as planned....both girls and even Mom got sick. We did get out one night to go to the park to go bike riding....at least it was a "b" activity!

In spite of being sick, we did several crafts, memorized our "B" Bible verse, played a "B" sound scavenger hunt, made blueberry cookies, banana-blueberry bread and banana cream pie and read lots of "B" books

Here's a few pictures from our "B" week....

"A" week

For the rest of our "A" week, our activities included having Alphabet soup one day for lunch, making a variety of "A" foods (Applesauce, Apricot chicken and Apple crisp...all in the crockpot), making several "A" crafts ("A is for Angel",  "A is for Alligator" , "A is for  Apple") as well as paper airplanes (which Tinkerbell4 thought would be fun to paint)., doing a variety of "A" worksheets, reading "A" books......to name a few.

Tinkerbell4 did really well learning her "A" verse and has been able to say it all week. Next week, we'll add a "B" verse and continue to go over her "A" verse.

Here's a few pictures from our "A" week...on to "B" week!!

Our offical start - Week 1, Day 1-- Letter "A"

We officially started homeschooling today and launched our "A" week. Tinkerbell4 told me yesterday she was soooo excited to start school!!

To keep with our "A" theme, we had waffles with Apricot syrup and Apple juice for breakfast; Apricots, Avocadoes, Applesauce and Animal cookies for lunch and homemade Curry chicken with Apple and a side of Asparagus for dinner! Whew...that was a lot of "A" foods for Day 1!!

Before the girls started their day, I began my day like I need to each day..reading God's Word! I  turned to Psalm 17 and verse 8 was "Keep me as the apple of your eye"...what a great reminder of God's care and protection of us and it was neat to stumble (no coincidences with God!) onto this on the "A" week! I love how God does things like that!!!

We read a book starting with "A", did a few "A" worksheets, had circle time where we prayed, read our "A" story from our new Big Thoughts for Little People book, read and starting memorizing our "A" memory verse (A soft answer turns away wrath...Prov 15:1) from our new ABC memory verse book, colored our memory verse coloring sheet, made an "Apple of your eye" simple craft and made Apple butter...all before lunch time!! After lunch we hung up our new jungle trees and then Tinkerbell4 put up the "A" on the tree (we are going to put up a new letter on the tree each week). Princess2 went down for her nap and Tinkerbell4 played quietely in her homeschool room while I worked for a few hours..

All in all, it was a great start to homeschooling!!!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Somehow I stumbled across this book and we've had a lot of fun with it. We've watch an animated video of it being read on YouTube (the girls want to watch it over and over!),  we've made 2 different related crafts, and listened to the CD that came with the book and just got our own copy of the book today. I also found a lot of great ideas for it on Pinterest (a site I cannot live without these days!!)

Here's a few pictures of our CCBM crafts from this week.
